Hearst Castle part 2
On the way home from Pajaro Dunes we took Pacific Coast Hwy 1. It was beautiful! It was along the coast and except for a few restaurants and hotels there was just nothing out there. Most of the coastline was rocky rather than sandy and the road had a lot of zig zags and hills but the view was magnificent. After many hours and lots of hunger, we discovered this amazing "bungalow" (of a millionaire). We had some lunch (whew!) and took a 40 minute tour of the "Upper Suites" of the castle which included many guest rooms and the owner's private chambers as well as TWO libraries. We also visited the garden and grounds complete with an indoor pool, outdoor pool, and tennis court. There were also three guest houses that looked pretty big from the outside. After our tour, we headed inland to find an interstate to take us the rest of the way to Shirley & Jeff's house in Beaumont. It was another great family reunion and Espen was a trooper for the long car ride. Hooray!
