Kindergarten RoundUp is a nationwide program offered in elementary schools for children who will be 5 by the cut off date (in our district Sept 15th) to register for kindergarten. We took Espen to Tope in late April so that he could visit the kindergarten classrooms, meet the teachers, and visit the "big school" (not preschool of Tope), while we filled out paperwork to get him set up for classes in the fall. He had a fantastic time! Unfortunately, the next day he argued about going to preschool and got really upset because he thought he would start kindergarten that day instead. Ahhh children and their sense of time. It really takes a while to develop! He thought he was going to Kdg when he turned 5 and we had to have this discussion a lot about finishing the current school year, spending the summer on summer activities, then going to school. It didn't sink in I guess. Now that it IS summer we'll see if he's sad not to go to preschool in the fall. Ha ha!
