Espen was really excited for Christmas this year, maybe even more so than last year. That was really fun for us since his first year or two WE were excited for him, but he didn't really seem to get it. He wanted to help with the Christmas lights (we reassured him that he was helping by staying at the streetside of the driveway). He helped decorate the tree and giggled with delight remembering his ornaments. He repeated to himself on a regular basis that he needed to be a good listener and be asleep so that Santa would come deliver presents. And he was VERY excited that we finally have a fireplace for Santa to come down so we didn't have to set out a key for him this year. We forgot to set out cookies and reindeer food (oops! by "we" I mean "me" because he asked a few times), but we did set out some egg nog. Good enough, right? Well, he got some presents so it must have been. All in all, it was a nice visit with family and we got to eat a lot of delicious food and open some great presents. It was such a blessing to get to see everyone this year (but we missed Karl who is deployed for another 2 months). Hopefully soon Espen will see that living in Cloverdale is fun - we weren't expecting him to feel attached to Spring Brook but he is. Just ask him about it and I'm sure you'll get an ear full. ;)
